Hybrid Mechanical and Electronic Beam Steering for Maximizing OAM Channel Capacity

Radio frequency-orbital angular momentum (RF-OAM) is a novel approach of multiplexing set orthogonal modes on the same frequency channel to achieve high spectrum efficiencies. Since OAM requires precise alignment transmit and receive antennas, electronic beam steering has been proposed for uniform circular array (UCA)-based communication system circumvent large performance degradation induced by small antenna misalignment in practical environment. However, case large-angle misalignment, capacity cannot be effectively compensated only steering. To solve this problem, we propose hybrid mechanical scheme, which rotating devices controlled pulse width modulation (PWM) signals as execution unit are utilized eliminate angle, while charge remaining angle caused perturbations. Furthermore, due interferometry, signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) not at elements UCA. Therefore, rotatable UCA structure receiver maximize capacity, simulated annealing algorithm adopted obtain optimal rotation first, then servo performs rotation, last adjusted accordingly. Both mathematical analysis simulation results validate that scheme can effect diverse errors any capacity.
